7. PARTICIPATION

Each national federation member of the European Chess Union (ECU) has the right to enter unlimited number of teams of four (4) players and one (1) reserve in both sections: 50+ & 65+.

The teams may represent a national federation or any regional structure of a national federation.
All players must be members of the same federation.

Entitled to participate in the category 50+ are players who were born in the year 1968 or earlier. Entitled to participate in the category 65+ are players who were born in the year 1953 or earlier.

8. RECEPTION

The reception will be arranged in „Aqua Zdrój” in Wałbrzych, Ratuszowa 6.

All Delegations should register there their participation between 12.00 and 21:00 and take part in the Captain’s Meeting on April 13th at 21:30.

9. SYSTEM AND RATE OF PLAY

9.1. The European Senior Team Championship shall be held on the Swiss system in 9 rounds, with one section 50+ and one section 65+, considered as separate competitions.

9.2. According to ECU and FIDE rules, the time control will be 90 min for 40 moves + 30 min for the rest of the game + 30 sec increment for every move played starting from the first move.

9.3. Default time for all rounds is 15 minutes.

10. TIE-BREAK SYSTEM

The order of teams that finish with the same number of match points shall be determined by the application of following tie-breaking procedures in sequence, proceeding from A to B to C to D the extent required:

A – by the sum of Sonneborn-Berger points, which is calculated as follows: match points of each opponent, excluding the opponent who scored the lowest number of match points, multiplied by the number of board points scored against each opponent respectively. The highest number wins. In case of two or more opponents with this same number of match point the lowest results of multiplication should be excluded;

B – by the number of board points won, the highest number wins

C – by the sum of the board points of all team’s opponents, the highest number wins

D – by the sum of the board points of all opponents defeated plus one half of the board points of all the opponents with which a tied result was achieved, the highest number wins.

11. ECU ENTRY FEE

11.1. In accordance with ECU regulations an entry fee of 100 Euro is required for each team.

11.2. According to the ECU regulations (Art. B.9.5.1), the entry fee shall be paid by the federations to ECU before or at the start of the competition. If the entry fee is not paid by the end of round 2 these teams will not be paired in subsequent rounds.

The ECU fees must be paid to the account of the European Chess Union.

12. ORGANIZATION FEE

12.1 The entry fee is 60 EUR per named player.

12.2. The entry fee shall be paid together with the registration.

13. PRIZES

The winning teams of the European Senior Team Championships 50+ and 65+ will be awarded respectively the title “European Senior Team Champion 2018”

The best women teams of the European Senior Team Chess Championships 50+ and 65+ will be awarded respectively the title “European Senior Women Team Champion 2018”.

50+ category:

1st team: €1.200, 2nd team: €800, 3rd team: €600, 4th team: €400 1st women team: €500

65+ category:

1st team: €1.200, 2nd team: €800, 3rd team: €600, 4th team: €400 1st women team: €500

Trophies and medals to the 3 top winning teams in each category.

Additional prizes for individual board winners (included reserve board): €100.

Medals for three best players on each board.

14. ANIMATIONS

The following excursions will be organize during the Championship:

  • Książ Castle

  • Old Mine – Science and Art Centre in Wałbrzych

  • Szczawno-Zdrój

Additional information will be provided during the captain’s meeting and on the competition website.

15. APPLICATIONS, REGISTRATION

15.1 The completed application forms should be sent by official email to info@walbrzych2018.eu

15.2 The complete registration form must include surname/s, first name/s, FIDE ID number, FIDE rating and title, passport number of each player/captain/head of delegation. It must also include the name and telephone/email of the person in charge of the team. All participants (players, captains, accompanying persons, etc.) must send the photos for badges by email to: info@walbrzych2018.eu

15.3 Teams will not be registered until all their registration details have been fulfilled.

15.4 Not later than March 13th 2018, each team shall confirm the exact team lists with all names. The list must be sent to the Organizer.

16. PLAYING HALL

The Championship will be held in Aqua Zdrój Wałbrzych, Ratuszowa 6.

17. ACCOMMODATION AND BOARD

The Organizer offers accommodation in the Hotel “Aqua Zdrój” ***

The Championship will be played at this venue.

The price for accommodation in Hotel “Aqua-Zdrój” is:

– Single room 59 Euros per day/per person

– Double room 36 Euros per day/per person

The price includes breakfast. The price for other meals is 8 EUR per lunch and 10 EUR per dinner.

The total cost of accommodation from 13.04.2018 to 23.04.2018 and full board is:

770 EUR in single room

540 EUR per person in dobule room.

The Organizer can only guarantee accommodation in the official hotel when reservation and payment has been made on time. Regarding this we are asking all Federations to make all necessary reservations and payments on time.

After the registration deadline, organizers are not obliged to provide accommodation and board. Reservations made in the official hotel are valid only if the payments are made not later than
February 13th 2018.

Players and accompanying persons who choose another hotel than the official one will take the risk of their transportation to the playing venue, security, and all official tournament information.

18. TRANSFERS

18.1. The organizers will provide bus transportation for teams to the official hotel on April 13th (arrival) and back on April 23rd (departure) from Wrocław International Airport.

18.2. The cost of tranfers in days of arrival and departure is included in organisation fee.

18.3. Transportation on other days is possible on personal requests.

19. PAYMENTS

19.1. At the time of registration all payments (hotel and organisation fee) have to be made by bank transfer before February 13th 2018 to following bank account:

19.2. The foreign Bank commissions are to be paid by senders. If it is not paid, the organizers will charge the respective participants and the payment must be done in full during the registration.

19.3. All payments paid are not refundable. However, force majeure might, in extreme cases, be considered in cases when organizer can retrieve the funds from the venue.

20. INSURANCE

All participants (players, captains, heads of delegations, accompanying persons, etc.) have to insure themselves for health and accident risk for the period of the championship.

21. VISAS

21.1 Poland is a member of the Schengen Agreement.

21.2 Citizens of the following European countries are not required to be in possession of a visa when entering Poland for less than 90 days: Albania (only for holders of biometric passports), Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina (only for holders of biometric passports), Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Macedonia (only for holders of biometric passports), Malta, Monaco, Montenegro (only for holders of biometric passports), Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia (only for holders of biometric passports), Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Vatican.

21.3 A person wishing to receive an invitation for a visa from the organizers have to stay in the official venue.

21.4 Persons who prefer to stay elsewhere need to take care of their visas on their own

21.5 The organizers will not be responsible for issuing an invitation for visa purpose if necessary information (last name, first name, date of birth of each player, head

of delegation, passport number, date of issue and validity) and scanned copy of the passport are submitted after February 13th 2018 and payments are not done.

21.6 Members of national federation requiring visas are requested to contact the organizer.
